‘Akane-banashi’ Announces Additional Cast Pair

The official X (formally Twitter) of the Akane-banashi television anime revealed an additional pair of cast on Saturday. The anime series adapting Yuuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue’s drama performance arts manga will begin airing on TV Asahi’s IMAnimation programming block, followed by BS Asahi and AT-X at 11.30 p.m. on April 4.

Voice actors Fumihiko Tachiki (Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen) and Hiroaki Hirata (Sanda) are joining the cast as Zensho Arakawa and Ikken Arakawa, respectively.

Ayumu Watanabe (Summertime Render) is directing the anime at Zexcs, with assistant director Yuu Harima (Cop Craft). Michihiro Tsuchiya (Cross Game) is handling the series composition.

Kii Tanaka (Zom 100) is designing the characters and also credited for the chief animation direction alongside Yasunari Nitta (Tsuki ga Kirei) and Hisashi Kagawa (Tiger Mask W). Akio Izutsu (Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle) is composing the music.

Suenaga and Moue began serializing the rakugo-themed drama manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in February 2022. Shueisha published the 21st volume on April 3.

VIZ Media simulpublishes the manga in English and released the 15th volume on March 10. The 16th volume is set to be released on May 12. Shueisha’s Manga Plus website also simulpublishes the manga in English, Spanish, Thai, and French.
