Oosaki began penning the fantasy romance novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2018. Overlap later acquired the series and began publishing the light novel in print under its Overlap Bunko imprint in March 2019, featuring illustrations by Tam-U. The 13th volume was released on April 20. Shinja Zero no Megami-sama to Hajimeru Isekai Kouryaku has a cumulative 500,000 copies of its volumes in circulation.
Comic Gardo began serializing a manga adaptation by Hakuto Shiroi in April 2020. Overlap published the tenth volume on January 25.
J-Novel Club licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English. The 12th light novel volume was released in October 2024, and the ninth manga volume went on sale in September 2025.
The first livestream for the Great Overlap Bunko All-Star Gathering Special 2026 announced a television anime adaptation for the series on January 11.
Synopsis
High school student and video game enthusiast Makoto Takatsuki perishes in an accident and reincarnates in an alternate world alongside his classmates. Unlike the others who receive powerful abilities, Makoto only gains substandard stats and chooses to become a Magic Apprentice.
