Magic: The Gathering’s Edge of Eternities set was, for many, overshadowed somewhat by the Spider-Man set that followed immediately afterward. While Peter Parker’s cardboard stint perhaps won’t be remembered entirely positively, though, we’ve got a lot more positive things to say about the game’s foray into space (seemingly testing the waters ahead of 2026’s Star Trek set).
Aside from some great cards in just about every color in the main set, there were two Commander precons released alongside it — and one of them is on sale at a very welcome discount on Amazon. Counter Intelligence, the Jeskai (white, blue, and red) deck all about proliferating counters (as the name suggests), is now under $35 — almost 25% off the list price of $44.99, and essentially matching its lowest-ever price (give or take a few cents).
The deck is helmed by Kilo, Apogee Mind. It’s a 3/3 with haste that proliferates once it’s tapped, helping you rack up counters pretty swiftly, especially on the Spacecraft cards that made their debut in this set, too.
With that in mind, the second Commander option is Inspirit, Flagship Vessel. Once stationed, it puts +1/+1 counters or charge counters on targets, or becomes a flying 5/5 that gives your artifacts hexproof and indestructible.
In terms of new cards, Depthshaker Titan is a 5/5 that turns your non-creature artifacts into 3/3 creatures for one turn, while Insight Engine can be charged up to draw cards. It’s nice to see cards like Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus, and Cyberdrive Awakener, too.
In short, it’s a great deck right out of the box, and pairs nicely with something like Krang, Utrom Warlord from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set.
