Bethesda has released a promised hotfix for Starfield on PS5, which will address some of the game’s crashing issues.
As shared on the Bethesda social media account, the Starfield team has today issued a “quick” hotfix, which it says will resolve the PlayStation 5 crashes that were happening when players used the Enhanced settings.
However, other instances of PS5 crashes and freezes still need to be addressed. The studio has said it will issue an additional hotfix for these.
As to when, Bethesda said it is “targeting next week” for this hotfix. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to our support team, it’s been incredibly helpful,” the Starfield team closed.
Bethesda initially acknowledged Starfield’s various crashing issues which many players on PlayStation 5 had been experiencing earlier this week. As a reminder, Starfield was announced to be coming to PS5 after releasing on Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2023. However, its PlayStation debut was met with a few bumps, and fans soon complained about “totally unsurprising” crashes, among other issues. Some even went so far as to ask for a refund after being disappointed with the port.
Speaking of Starfield ports, earlier today a Starfield Switch 2 rating was spotted, suggesting a Nintendo release of Bethesda’s space RPG is on the cards. Hopefully its (potential) Switch release will have a slightly smoother debut.
