Manga ‘Omae, Tanuki ni Naranee ka?’ Receives TV Anime Adaptation

Production company Happinet opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Tomo Nagawa’s Omae, Tanuki ni Naranee ka? (Would You like to Be a Tanuki?) manga, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and teaser promotional video on Wednesday.

Nagawa originally began drawing the supernatural slice of life series on pixiv and X (formerly Twitter) in August 2020. Comic POOL began serializing the manga in April 2021. Ichijinsha published the ninth volume in October 2025, with the tenth volume going on sale on Monday.

The series ranked fifth in the web category for the 2023 Next Manga Awards, and also ranked sixth in the 2023 Web Manga General Elections.

Synopsis

Koganemaru the tanuki heads into the city today, hoping to recruit humans to live on his mountain.

“Hey, why don’t you become a tanuki?”
