Production company Bandai Namco Filmworks announced a new short anime for Future GPX Cyber Formula on Wednesday, commemorating the anime series’ 35th anniversary. The official website also revealed a 35th anniversary visual (pictured) and a promotional video.
The new anime will be a direct sequel to the Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin original video anime and will include a new cyber machine, the Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G, which was designed by Shouji Kawamori (Sousei no Aquarion original creator).
Produced by Sunrise, the 37-episode original television anime aired in Spring 1991. Four original video anime sequels were released subsequently, with the final OVA, Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin, running in five episodes from December 1998 to March 2000. Bandai Entertainment licensed the television anime in North America and released it on a DVD box set in 2003.
