What to expect from Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred presents not only new additions to the game but also changes to key aspects of the gameplay loop. In theory, this DLC introduces two new classes, Paladin and Warlock. However, the former has been available for those who pre-purchased Lord of Hatred since December, making Warlock the major novelty.

Capable of summoning demons to fight by its side or employing the flames of hell to kill its enemies, the Warlock was made for players who enjoy casters or pet-based classes. The Warlock can curse enemies, making them weak to your other attacks. If even one enemy is marked by your curse, you can proliferate it into a whole pack, which your pets can take care of by themselves. As you progress, you’ll also unlock powerful demon servants like a hellish dog who you can ride and attack enemies or a tormented demon who lends you their powers.

To expand possibilities for the new and old classes, Blizzard is adding talismans and charms to the list of equipment in the game. While a talisman comes with affixes that affect specific aspects of a character, making them crucial when putting together a build, it also unlocks charm slots. You need these to equip sets of charms. While they individually have their affixes, charms really shine when you can equip a whole set, giving you access to an even more powerful bonus.

Although the campaign is a major focus of Diablo 4, the endgame is also receiving an upgrade with the new DLC. A system called War Plans will offer a list of endgame activities for you to pick. By following the list and completing it, you will gain rewards like equipment or crafting materials. Working similarly to a playlist, the War Plans not only streamlines the endgame experience but also encourages you to try different endgame activities in order to get your hands on some sweet loot.
