How to beat the Gigantic Bot boss in Pragmata

by Awais

The Gigantic Bot, also known as the Creator, is one of Pragmata‘s most intimidating bosses, not in the least due to its immense size. To defeat this tall fellow, you’d better get the high ground. Encountered at the end of the Mass Production Array area, Gigantic Bot serves as the second boss in the game, following the SectorGuard in the previous sector.

Here’s how to beat the Pragmata Gigantic Bot boss during the “contact earth from the Comms Tower” mission in the Mass Production Array.

How to prepare for the Gigantic Bot boss in Pragmata

Your run-in with the Gigantic Bot boss takes place in the Comms Tower area, after you’ve opened the massive gate (the one with the six locks, which requires six beacons to open) in the Mass Production Array. Note that there’s an escape hatch behind the massive gate; this is your last opportunity to travel back to the Shelter and get some upgrades.

Any upgrade is useful, but especially the thrusters, as this allows you to dodge more often. Don’t forget to equip helpful mods, such as the Hardened Suit (increases max HP by 10%) and Extended Breach (OPEN enemies stay exposed for 15% longer). If you need more upgrades before facing the Gigantic Bot, keep in mind that you can go back to previous areas and use the Lim Eraser on the spiky blockades to obtain more loot.

As soon as the battle starts, Gigantic Bot will use its swipe and slam attacks, thereby using its forearms. It’s best to dodge backward so you can continue to aim for its head after the attack ends.

Before long, Gigantic Bot will gain a double red shield (one on each shoulder) to prevent hacking. You must shoot at least one shield to unlock hacking again, but it’s best to shoot both, as this will incapacitate the boss for a few seconds and grant you the opportunity to land a critical shot.

The Gigantic Bot’s weak spots are the glowing blue canisters on its head and abdomen, which turn red when you hit them. As usual, hack the boss before shooting to expose its weak spots and deal more damage — try to hit as many blue nodes as you can while hacking! Throughout this battle, don’t forget to use Overdrive when your hacking gauge is full, and be sure to pick up items in the boss arena. A good way to deal a ton of damage against the Gigantic Bot boss is to hack it, freeze it with a stasis net, and use a powerful gun like the charge piercer on its head.

When the boss has around 60% HP left, the battle enters a new phase, and Gigantic Bot gains two new attacks. The first is a red laser attack; the boss will face downward, shoot laser beams toward the ground, then follow you around. The second is a large area-of-effect attack, summoning piercing spikes from the ground while the boss itself remains stationary. To avoid damage from these attacks, run away from the boss and avoid stepping into the blue circles, respectively.

Unfortunately, Gigantic Bot will receive four red shields (one on each of his legs, see the arrow in the picture above) at the start of the second phase. Like before, destroy them to incapacitate the boss. Keep in mind that destroying the first red shield should already unlock hacking in the upper left corner of the hacking screen.

When the boss has roughly 30% HP left, the third phase of this Pragmata boss battle will commence. Gigantic Bot will stand on its hind legs, roar, and summon a blue damage field that travels from its side of the arena to yours. To avoid damage, run away from the boss until you reach the opposite edge of the battlefield, where the attack won’t reach.

Soon after, Gigantic Bot will use a new car-throwing attack (when it grabs a car, dodge sideways) and a red laser field attack. The latter covers the entire arena, but it also summons buildings you can climb; run to one of them (see picture below, right side) and use the lift mechanism to reach safety.

For the remainder of the Pragmata Gigantic Bot boss battle, make full use of the buildings by shooting the boss’ red shield from up top. When the boss swipes at you, just jump and glide to another building and continue.

At the end of the fight, be prepared to follow a one-way path through a hacking screen to defeat Gigantic Bot. The correct route is displayed in the picture above.
