Dungeon Crawler Carl is one of the few LitRPG series that have gotten actual physical releases. Mass market print editions of the first book didn’t even start hitting shelves until 2024. Flash forward to 2026 and we have the latest release, A Parade of Horribles, arriving as a hardcover and a Kindle edition on day one of its release.
There are quite a few different ways to read the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, but if you’re looking for actual physical copies these types of Amazon sales are worth jumping on. The one downside of this particular sale is that every book included is hardcover edition except the first book, which is a paperback. So if you buy all eight books with the 3 for 2 discount, you’ll have a bit of a mismatched set.
If you just want to read the books as cheaply as possible, I’d recommend utilizing a Kindle Unlimited subscription. All of these books, including the latest release, are available with a subscription. Amazon is currently offering three months of the service for free to Prime members, but for new subscribers only. That’s plenty of time to read all of the books without paying anything, though.
Amazon’s Audible deal is great for the audiobook versions
The popularity of Dungeon Crawler Carl is, in part, thanks to some absolutely terrific audiobooks. Matt Dinniman himself has praised Jeff Hays’s performance, saying he’s one of the few narrators out there doing all of the voices and sound effects that really bring audiobooks to life. And the DCC audio versions are undoubtedly some of the best audiobooks available right now.
