A full decade in, Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight has settled into a comfortable rhythm of content updates and seasonal events, including some surprises. But as the asymmetrical horror game enters its 11th year, there are big changes coming, including mod support and a visual overhaul.
Those two headline additions were shared during Dead by Daylight’s recent hours-long 10th anniversary broadcast, in which Behaviour confirmed official modding support – for the likes of user-made maps and modes – is coming in 2027. Additionally, the studio is implementing dynamic weather and visual refresh aiming to transform Dead by Daylight’s ageing looks.
Behaviour also revealed the impending arrival of Friday the 13th’s Jason (an impressive achievement considering the wobbly state of the franchise’s rights over the years), a new original DLC chapter – The Life Road – coming later this month, and another famed slasher villain, Terrifier’s Art the Clown, who’s set to enter The Fog this November. Oh, and we can also expect a new map based on liminal spaces (which sounds like a perfect excuse for a Backrooms collab, perhaps), but it won’t arrive before December.
A couple of cosmetics-only collaborations have also been confirmed, including a collection for metalcore band Ice Nine Kills and the return of Iron Maiden. We can also expect skins themed around Silent Hill, The Walking Dead, Diablo 4, and Scooby-Doo.
Less headline-grabbing but still notable, August sees the launch of Chorus of Sin, introducing new original (and celestial) killer The Judgment and new survivor Aurora. There’s also an in-universe collaboration with Supermassive Games’ Dead by Daylight spin-off The Casting of Frank Stone coming in early 2027 release. And amid all this, Behaviour is promising more events like The Black Banquet (running from mid-June to mid-July) and new seasonal rifts (challenge tracks of sorts with unique rewards) running throughout the year and into 2027.
And that’s pretty much all the key stuff, aside from an update on that live-action Dead by Daylight movie adaptation.
