Cyberpunk Night City 2045 release, price, and preorder unveiled

by Awais

Night City has always been the real star of the Cyberpunk universe — and now it’s getting its most detailed tabletop treatment yet at a brand-new point in time.

Pre-orders have officially opened for $60 physical copies of Night City 2045, a new 312-page city sourcebook for the Cyberpunk RED TTRPG due out in June — but the digital PDF is already available for purchase at $30. Dubbed a “monster sourcebook,” Night City 2045 is designed to be a comprehensive guide to the setting, with a focus on the people, places, and power structures that define life in the Dark Future.

Originally announced at Gen Con 2024, Night City 2045 is set in the beloved neon-soaked metropolis 32 years before the events of Cyberpunk 2077, at the end of an era known as the Time of the Red. Following a nuclear blast in Night City that occurred during the Fourth Corporate War, the skies were stained blood-red for years — complete with “blood rains” composed of crimson slime falling from the sky.

Whereas 2020’s Night City Sourcebook took a focused look at the downtown district, Night City 2045 examines the entire city a quarter-century later — which includes all 24 districts with more than 600 specific locations. The book also takes an exhaustive look at Night City’s geography, government, history, laws, and so much more. There are details about 44 different gangs, 6 criminal organizations, and 23 different security providers, along with 99 stat blocks for various types of characters.

According to an April 17 blog post from R. Talsorian Games, physical copies of the book will officially be released at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH, which runs from June 17 to 21. Pre-orders will then begin shipping on June 24. Anyone who pre-orders the physical book can get the digital PDF for 50% off, but they can also pick up the physical book early if done in-person at Origins. Also, anyone who pre-orders the digital version via Demiplane can get free access to Roll20’s Map Pin feature.

For longtime fans, Night City 2045 isn’t just another sourcebook. It’s the closest thing yet to a full simulation of the city itself on tabletop, offering a version of Night City that feels like a living, breathing character. Just try to avoid getting hit by some blood rain while you’re there.
