Amazon’s board game deals are the best Prime Day sales in years

by Awais

Amazon Prime Day is back, and while the event is mostly known for TVs, laptops, and kitchen gadgets, it’s also one of the best times of the year to expand your tabletop collection without blowing your gaming budget. Whether you’re looking to finally grab that board game that’s been sitting on your wishlist or find a gift for the tabletop gamer in your life, Prime Day often delivers some surprisingly steep discounts, especially on the classics.

Of course, not every deal is actually a deal, and sorting through thousands of listings can feel more daunting than a high-level dungeon crawl. To help, we’ve rounded up the best board game deals we could find during Prime Day. Here’s a look at some of the best.

1

Ticket to Ride

Image: Days of Wonder

Players: 2-5

Playtime: 30-60 minutes

Ticket to Ride has been introducing new players to modern board gaming for more than two decades, and it’s still one of the best entry points into the hobby. Players collect colored train cards to claim railway routes across a map of North America, racing to complete destination tickets while blocking opponents from key connections. The rules can be explained in just a few minutes, but the game offers enough tension and strategic decision-making to keep families and veteran gamers coming back for more. At 25% off with a price tag of only $29.99, now’s the time to pick it up if you don’t already have it.

Carcassonne

Carcassonne Image: Asmodee

Players: 2-5

Playtime: 35 minutes

Carcassonne is a modern classic — and one of my all-time favorites — that proves great board games don’t need complicated rules. Players take turns placing landscape tiles to build medieval cities, roads, monasteries, and fields, then deploy followers to score points from the growing countryside. The simple tile-laying mechanics make it easy to learn in minutes, while the constantly evolving board creates plenty of opportunities for clever plays, friendly competition, and strategic planning that keeps every game feeling fresh. More than 25 years after its debut, Carcassonne remains one of the hobby’s most enduring gateway games.

Catan (6th Edition)

Players: 3-4 players

Playtime: 60-90 minutes

Arguably the single best board game deal this Prime Day is Catan at 45.5% off. That’s $29.99 for the 6th edition of the game, which was released in April 2025. If you’re familiar with the game, then you won’t have any problems with the latest edition. The updates largely consist of a number of quality-of-life improvements, along with refreshed art for the various game pieces that will make the experience feel that much more polished. If your old copy is damaged or you’re keen on improving your stockpile of games, now’s the time to grab this one.

Monopoly Deal

Players: 2-5

Playtime: 15 minutes

Monopoly Deal might be the best Monopoly game ever made. This compact card game keeps the property collecting, wheeling and dealing, and occasional backstabbing of the classic board game while cutting playtime down to roughly 15 minutes. It’s small enough to toss in a backpack, simple enough for almost anyone to learn, and frequently converts people who thought they hated Monopoly. At just $5.99 during Prime Day, it’s one of the easiest recommendations on this list.

The Chameleon

Players: 3-8

Playtime: 15 minutes

This award-winning social deduction game is easy to pick up and an absolute riot. One person is the “Chameleon,” essentially an imposter who has to avoid getting caught. Players have to go around in a circle, each saying one word related to a secret topic, except only the Chameleon doesn’t know the word. The goal is to catch the Chameleon. For 32% off and a price of $16.99, this one’s a fun party game for just about anybody.

Sounds Fishy

sounds fishy board game Image: Big Potato Games

Players: 3-8

Playtime: 30 minutes

Sounds Fishy is functionally similar to The Chameleon, but games take a bit longer and it’s a bit more kid-friendly (it’s rated for anyone ages 10 and up). Players are secretly assigned either a red or blue fish. Red fish make up their answer when the Guesser asks a question, whereas the blue fish gives the real answer. The Guesser then has to eliminate all of the red herrings (literally) one by one. The questions themselves are pretty silly, so this one’s geared towards laughs more than anything else. At a 30% discount to the tune of $13.99, it’s pretty cheap too.

Azul

Players: 2-4

Playtime: 30-45 minutes

Legend says that King Manuel I of Portugal was so inspired by the beauty of the Alhambra Palace in southern Spain that he brought the tile decor back to his own palace. Azul channels those same vibes in a tile-laying game that’s all about the decor. You draw and design patterns of colored tiles to display around your palace (your game board). Specific patterns and complete sets earn you points, while wasted tiles reduce your score. Once all the tiles are used up, points are tallied. Azul is one of the all-time greats, and the Prime Day 30% discount makes it worth picking up for $23.99, if you don’t have it already.

A card from the game Everdell next to the Ever Tree and some of the player pieces.

Players: 1-4

Playtime: 40-80 minutes

Everdell remains one of the most beautiful modern board games on the market, pairing gorgeous woodland artwork with a surprisingly deep worker-placement and tableau-building experience. Players gather resources, recruit charming animal citizens, and construct a thriving forest city over the course of four seasons. Despite its cozy appearance, Everdell offers meaningful strategic choices and enough depth to keep experienced board gamers engaged, making it an easy recommendation for anyone looking to graduate beyond gateway games like Catan and Ticket to Ride. It’s normally priced at $75, so the 35% discount carries even more weight, making the sale price a reasonable $48.91. (There’s also a dedicated two-player version that’s even cheaper, also with a solid discount.)

Splendor

Players: 2-4

Playtime: 30 minutes

Splendor is one of the easiest strategy games to teach — and one of the hardest to stop playing. Players take on the role of Renaissance merchants, collecting gems to purchase increasingly valuable development cards and attract wealthy patrons. With simple rules, quick turns, and a satisfying engine-building loop, Splendor has earned its reputation as a modern tabletop classic that’s equally appealing to newcomers and seasoned board gamers. It’s also currently at one of the better discounts we’ve seen: 40% off for $23.99.

Players: 2-4

Playtime: 60 minutes

Twisted Cryptids puts a darkly comedic spin on North American folklore, tasking players with capturing bizarre creatures inspired by legends like Bigfoot, the Mothman, and the Jersey Devil. Combining approachable gameplay with striking artwork and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, it’s the kind of game that immediately sparks conversation around the table. If your group enjoys light strategy games with a distinctive theme, Twisted Cryptids offers something a little weirder than the usual fantasy or sci-fi fare. And with the 20% discount, it’s only $15.99 for Prime Day.
