Hiroyuki Kawasaki, ‘Tsubasa Chronicle’ and ‘Mugen no Juunin’ Scriptwriter, Dies at 60

Scriptwriter Takao Koyama announced on their X account on Thursday that fellow scriptwriter Hiroyuki Kawasaki died on January 23. He was 60.

Born in Kanagawa in November 1965, Kawasaki enrolled in the special effects department of Tokyo Academy of Visual Arts where he studied scriptwriting techniques under screenwriters Kuniaki Oshikawa and Takao Koyama. He began as a scriptwriter for the final episode of the Doteraman television anime and first worked as series composition staff for the Earthian original video anime.

He began gaining recognition in 1993 for working on Musekinin Kanchou Tylor (The Irresponsible Captain Tylor) and penning the entire script of Kidou Shinseiki Gundam X (After War Gundam X) in 1996.

Kawasaki’s notable scriptwriting and series composition credits also include Tsubasa Chronicle (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE), Shinrei Tantei Yakumo (Psychic Detective Yakumo), Mugen no Juunin (Blade of the Immortal), and Hyouge Mono.
