Star Wars is back in movie theaters for the first time since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu. The continuation of the Disney Plus series The Mandalorian follows bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his adorable foundling, better known as Baby Yoda, as they hunt down an Imperial officer for the New Republic.
Whether you’re unsure about buying a ticket given the franchise’s spotty cinematic record or you’re a superfan who wants to enjoy the cute puppets and space battles on demand, you might be wondering when the film will be available to stream. Here’s our most up to date information on when The Mandalorian and Grogu will be flying into your home.
When will The Mandalorian and Grogu be available to rent or purchase digitally?
The COVID-19 pandemic changed theatrical release windows, so we’re going to base our estimates on recent Disney releases rather than The Rise of Skywalker, which took three months to become available digitally. Zootopia 2 hit theaters on Nov. 26, 2025, and got its digital release on Jan. 27, while Hoppers made its VOD debut on April 28 after opening on March 6. That means The Mandalorian and Grogu will probably head to VOD in July for rental and digital purchase.

When will The Mandalorian and Grogu be available on Blu-ray/DVD?
Zootopia 2 got its physical release on March 3 and Hoppers will be available on 4K UHD, DVD, and Blu-ray on June 2. That means you’ll probably see a special feature-packed physical version of The Mandalorian and Grogu in August.
When will The Mandalorian and Grogu be available on streaming?
Disney Plus will be The Mandalorian and Grogu’s first stop on streaming. Zootopia 2 launched on the streaming service on March 11, about four months after its Jan. 27 debut, while Elio arrived on Disney Plus on Sept. 17, about three months after its June theatrical release. The difference is how well those two films performed at the box office, so if Star Wars fans pack theaters, you’ll probably have to wait until September to plan a full Mandalorian marathon at home.
