When Is Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Date? Here Is What Microsoft Has Said

by Awais

Forza Horizon 6 launches over the next week on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but the game is also headed to PlayStation 5–just not right away. Microsoft and developer Playground have not confirmed a specific release date for the PS5 edition, but the company has provided a window for when fans can expect it.

When is Forza Horizon 6 coming to PS5?

As announced during the Xbox Developer Direct event in January this year, Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 “later in 2026.” That doesn’t tell us much, but it is at least confirmation that the racing game will head to Sony’s console this year.

This means PS5 players will have to wait 230 days at the very most (that’s May 15-December 31) to play Forza Horizon 6 after it launches on PC and Xbox. No one would expect the PS5 edition to launch on the last day of the year, so the wait will surely be shorter than that.

Microsoft has not explained why, specifically, it’s staggering the console releases for Forza Horizon 6. The company does not have a one-size-fits-all approach to multiplatform releases.

2025’s Gears of War Reloaded, which brought the series to PlayStation for the first time, launched day-and-date across all platforms, for example. All versions of the upcoming Fable reboot, also developed by Playground, are set for release this fall.

Forza Horizon 5 launched in November 2021 for Xbox and PC before coming to PS5 in April 2025. That wait was much longer because Microsoft didn’t even announce its updated multiplatform strategy until early 2024. When Forza Horizon 5 eventually came to PS5, it was a smash hit, generating a reported $300 million on Sony’s platform.

Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 15 for people who pay a premium and May 19 for everyone else. For more, be sure to see GameSpot’s rundown of the official Forza Horizon 6 launch timing, pre-load info, and file sizes.
