This Is Could Be Your Last Chance To Get An Xbox Series S This Cheap

by Awais

In case you hadn’t heard, Microsoft is once again raising Xbox Series X|S console prices soon. Starting August 1, The Xbox Series X 1TB is jumping from $650 to $800 and the Xbox Series S 512GB will increase from $400 to $500. While these price increases are sure to impact sales for all Xbox consoles, it’s a particularly heavy blow to the Xbox Series S, which was widely regarded as an affordable entry point to the current hardware generation prior to these price hikes. That said, there are still a few weeks before the higher prices go into effect, if you act fast, you can grab an Xbox Series S 512GB for just $380 (was $400) at Amazon. That’s still $80 than its original launch price, but considering it’ll soon cost $500, this might be the last time you can grab an Xbox Series S at this price point.

This limited-time deal is part of the retailer’s Prime Day sale that runs through June 26, so you only have about a day left to grab this deal (assuming it doesn’t disappear before then).

This isn’t the only version of Xbox Series S available during Prime Day, but it is the best value. It originally launched in 2020 at $300, at the time a very reasonable barrier to entry for the next generation of games. Even after the first increase to $400, which is still less than the Series X launch price tag of $500, it was one of the least expensive consoles on the market. But now that the “cheap” option is about to cost the same as the Series X did at launch, it’s much harder to justify the purchase.

Though, to be fair, increasing prices isn’t just an Xbox problem–nor is it unique to gaming consoles.

If this Amazon Xbox Series S deal sells out–or you’re shopping around for other options before the price hikes–it’s worth noting that Best Buy is offering My Best Buy members a complimentary $50 gift card when they bundle Grand Theft Auto VI preorders with an eligible PS5 or Xbox Series X|S console–including select certified refurbished models of both platforms, which are much cheaper than buying either console new. Since My Best Buy is free to join, it’s worth checking out while the promotion is available.
