The Gathering card from Secrets of Strixhaven has an awesome combo with a forgotten Mythic

by Awais

Magic: The Gathering’s Secrets of Strixhaven is a great set to collect and play with, whether it’s the quintet of Commander precons or the fancy Mystical Archive cards.

We’ve already seen some quite wild combinations in Golgari (black-green), but it wouldn’t be a Magic set with some kind of Izzet (blue-red) chicanery — and that’s exactly what you’ll get with Muddle, the Ever-Changing.

This 3/3 Elemental Otter Shapeshifter is found in the Prismari Artistry deck. It costs four mana and, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, it becomes a copy of a target non-legendary creature you control until the end of the turn, but affixes the myriad keyword to it.

This Commander-specific keyword means that, whenever the creature attacks, its controller creates an attacking token copy for each other opponent. In a spellslinger deck like Prismari Artistry, this effect can become quite powerful, but the real question is what to pair it with to leverage it at its best (and lose some friends on the way)?

Enter Port Razer, a card from Commander Legends, which has seen a steady increase in price in recent weeks (according to TCGplayer), likely because of its new best buddy, Muddle. Its text reads “Whenever Port Razer deals combat damage to a player, untap each creature you control. After this combat phase, there is an additional combat phase.”

While there’s a caveat that Port Razer can’t attack a player it already attacked this turn, that wouldn’t apply to its copies, or other creatures you control. This means if you can get Port Razer to deal damage to, say, each of the three opponents in your standard Commander pod, you could queue up multiple combat phases.

Naturally, your opponents could block the 4/4 Orc Pirate, but if you can find a way to give it a keyword that gets around that, you might find the Muddle and Port Razer combo a relatively explosive path to victory. Worth mentioning that Port Razer also combos with Rionya, Fire Dancer, for infinite damage and combat phases.
