Hero 52, Shion, makes her entrance
Overwatch Season 3, “Into the Tiger’s Den,” begins this week. It’s the third season since Overwatch 2 rebranded itself back into Overwatch and, like the previous season, adds a brand-new hero to the roster: Shion, a new Damage-class hero. That’s in addition to all of the standard updates, like a new battle pass, cosmetics, and other fine-tuning.
Here’s when Overwatch Season 3 begins in your time zone, plus a little bit to know about what to expect.

What to expect from Overwatch Season 3
Shion is the biggest addition to Overwatch Season 3, part of Blizzard’s continued promise to add a new hero with every season in the wake of Overwatch‘s revamp. A Damage-class character, Shion is Overwatch‘s 52nd hero (the seventh released this year), and was inspired by franchises from John Wick to Kill Bill, according to a Polygon interview. She’s a Hashimoto crime boss who wields dual pistols and rides a motorcycle into combat.
And yes, she can throw the bike at people.
For more information about Shion and her moveset, and the steps Blizzard needed to take to develop her, read Polygon’s interview with the Overwatch team below:
