The heroes of Overwatch are coming to Fortnite this week. Epic Games and Blizzard Entertainment confirmed the poorly kept secret that D.Va, Genji, Mercy, and Tracer are dropping onto Fortnite‘s island this week, and for some reason, D.Va brought a huge sword.
Epic Games revealed the Overwatch x Fortnite crossover on Wednesday with a new Act 3 cinematic trailer that shows the quartet of Overwatch heroes rescuing Jonesy and Fishstick while they’re under attack from the Ice King. Everyone on the Overwatch side says their signature catchphrases — except for Genji, who does not say “I need healing” — and looks just a bit different to match Fortnite‘s visual style.
The full extent of the Overwatch x Fortnite crossover hasn’t been officially revealed, but D.Va, Genji, Mercy, and Tracer will arrive on Thursday, May 14. The trailer’s artwork teases that the King’s Row clocktower will be featured in Fortnite‘s map, but expect more details on launch day.
According to unconfirmed leaks, however, the Overwatch x Fortnite crossover will include the four hero skins, four backblings, four pickaxes, three emotes, a glider, and a wrap. Fortnite players can also expect Overwatch-themed landmarks, quests, and NPCs. Even the Porsche Cayenne Overwatch SUV is reportedly included.
The crossover arrives just days after Blizzard Entertainment kicked off Overwatch‘s 10th anniversary event, so while it may seem strange to see the game’s heroes in Fortnite form, it’s part of a larger event-themed push for the game.
Fortnite is free to play on consoles and PC, as is Overwatch.
