After plenty of speculation and discussion, Rockstar has finally announced the price of Grand Theft Auto 6.
The standard version of GTA 6 will retail for $79.99, and be available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. This is an increase of roughly $10 compared to many other major releases for this generation of consoles.
If you have your eyes set on GTA 6’s Ultimate Edition, which Rockstar says “amplifies this experience with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story”, this will retail for $99.99.
Eurogamer has asked for clarification on UK pricing, and will update you when we know more.
Pre-orders for GTA 6 begin at midnight local time on 25th June. Physical versions will be available from 12th November to allow for pre-loads, and include a code for the game. Everyone who pre-orders the game or buys it before 20th November will get a Vintage Vice City Pack, which bundles a collection of items harkening from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. You can find more information on what each GTA 6 edition includes thanks to our Bertie, who has broken it all down for you.
It is also worth noting that GTA Online will not be available for GTA 6 on the game’s release, which is set for 19th November. Rockstar stated the game will be “a single player experience” in a press release announcing today’s pre-order information.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games is also embroiled in a legal dispute with the UK’s Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which in November accused the company of committing “one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry” after it dismissed around 30 employees. Yesterday, an employment tribunal ruled against Rockstar Games’ request to remove blacklisting claims from this ongoing legal dispute. It’s going to trial on 10th September.
