To celebrate 15 years of anime production, MAPPA announced a slew of exciting projects on Friday, highlighting new series (Beat & Motion, Jimoto Saiko!), while hyping up returning franchises, like Jujutsu Kaisen: Culling Game Part Two and Dorohedoro season 3. Chainsaw Man had its own thrilling moment, with MAPPA’s forthcoming Assassin Arc taking center stage toward the end of the event
But even more intriguing was the debut of Chainsaw Man‘s first official gaming tie-in.
Simply called Chainsaw Man Mobile Game, the experience seems designed to cater to fans of both Chainsaw Man and MAPPA. The studio unveiled the game’s intro movie during its 15th Anniversary livestream on June 19, showing high-quality 3D character models and cinematic cutscenes that match the series’ signature style. The full video also features the band Maximum the Hormone’s song “All the Lynch!!! All the Mince!!,” evoking the raunchy aesthetics of Chainsaw Man.
While the promotional footage features most of the main stars from the series, like Denji, Power, Aki, and Makima, it’s still unclear how they all factor into the gameplay. Little is known about the title at this time, aside from the fact that it’s a mobile-first experience and may not be coming to PC or consoles any time soon. Even the full title of the game is still under wraps, particularly for international audiences. The intro video doesn’t help much, either. The game could be anything from a gacha RPG to an arena fighter. We just won’t know until MAPPA reveals more about the project.
There’s an official English promotional page on X, which you can follow as more information gets drip-fed over the next several months. Although some fans might be bummed by the fact that the first official Chainsaw Man video game is mobile-first, it serves as our first look at what the series can do in a totally new format — and could prove exciting if its creators blend the right kind of gameplay with Chainsaw Man’s humorous action beats.
