Over a decade after cult-classic cinematic horror game Until Dawn launched for PS4, Sony has revealed a sequel is in the works, and it’s out on PS5 next year.
There’s not a whole lot to say about Until Dawn 2 just yet (although there’s a wisp of additional detail on the PlayStation Blog), but based on its trailer alone, it’s clear we’re looking at a very different vibe for this sequel. Gone is the remote snow-covered alpine resort of the first game, replaced by sun-kissed tropical climes. And this time around, we’re following a successful crew of TV ghosthunters – successful despite the fact they fake all their content – as they encounter true horror on a beautiful but apparently deadly island.
Until Dawn 2 – which follows 2024’s disappointing Until 1 remake – is being developed by Sony’s Liverpool-based Firesprite Games, rather than original studio Supermassive. And there’s currently no indication that any of the original creative team is involved. However, there’s one familiar face to link the first game and this newly announced sequel: Peter Stormare, who played Until Dawn’s memorably unhinged psychiatrist Dr. Hill, is back.
