When do hit a level cap in The Witcher 3?
The max level in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt depends on which version of the game you own, as The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine downloadable content extends the game’s level cap. If you’re wondering when you and Geralt will finally hit maximum level, however, beware that it’ll take a lot of time.
Here’s the max level in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with and without Blood and Wine.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt level cap
In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s base game, the max level is level 70. However, if you’ve purchased and installed the Blood and Wine expansion (either separately or as part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition), the max level is level 100.
To level up, you must gather enough experience points, which you’ll receive by defeating enemies and completing quests. Every time you level up, you’ll gain ability points, which you can use to upgrade your skills. Beware that players don’t typically reach level 70, let alone level 100, within a single playthrough. It’s far more likely to be around level 30 by the time you finish the base game, and somewhere between levels 40 and 50 after finishing the DLCs.
If you’d like to keep leveling up once your first adventure has come to an end, you can start a new game plus (called “NEW GAME +” in the game) to reset all quests and map markers while retaining your current level progress. New game plus is unlocked once you’ve finished The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s base game for the first time. Just keep in mind that even a new game plus playthrough may not result in a max-level Geralt unless you farm extra experience points. But hey, it’s the perfect excuse to start a third The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt playthrough.
