The official website for the television anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s Mao manga revealed additional cast, a second key visual (pictured right), and the opening theme for second cour on Friday. The anime series premiered on April 4 at 11:45 p.m. on NHK G.

Boy group 20th Century will perform the opening theme for second cour “Bokura ga Uwagaki suru Sekai.”
Teruo Satou (Hanyou no Yashahime: Sengoku Otogizoushi) is directing the anime at Sunrise, with Yuuko Kakihara (Urusei Yatsura (2022)) handling the series composition. Yoshihito Hishinuma (InuYasha) is designing the characters and chief animation director. Shuu Kanematsu (Hametsu no Oukoku) is composing the music.
Takahashi began serializing the supernatural manga in Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine in May 2019. Shogakukan published the 29th volume on June 18.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2021. The 24th volume shipped on May 12, with the 25th volume planned for an August 11 release.
