Showrunner Jeff Trammell struck gold when he, alongside Marvel and Disney, brought Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to the small screen in January 2025. A year later, fans of the TV series will be able to bring the show into their home with The Art of Marvel Animation‘s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man by author Ramin Zahed.
The first season of YFNS was nothing short of fantastic. While origin stories for superheroes are so often hit-or-miss for some fans, YFNS managed to shake off any of the baggage of yet another Peter Parker origin story by not actively focusing just on Peter, but on the people who matter most to him. The result is a show where “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” feels baked into the story, rather than an afterthought.
However, it isn’t just the story and characters of YFNS that have stood out. Its striking visuals and the 3D cel-shaded animation (paying direct homage to the art style of the early Amazing Spider-Man comic books) made the series one of the most exciting-looking animated shows on TV. It’s no wonder then that The Art of Marvel Animation‘s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a much-anticipated book.
Ahead of its release next month, Polygon had the opportunity to exclusively reveal one of the show’s art pages featuring character art. Feast your eyes, Strange fans — your favorite doctor is here.
There were several superhero cameos in YFNS, but none quite as exciting to see as Doctor Strange. Strange played a key role in the series, as it’s only after his arrival (and eventual departure) through a portal that leads to a radioactive spider biting Peter, and giving him his Spider-Man powers.
Strange makes yet another appearance at the end of season one, where, once again, his return via a portal leads to severe consequences — namely, a symbiote appearing and forcing Strange and Spider-Man to team up to defeat it. Despite his brief appearance in the finale, Strange’s presence feels practically guaranteed for season 2. Though, if Strange does happen to not appear in future seasons, as the spread above proves, his design is nothing short of amazing.
The Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on June 23, 2026.
