Golden Kamuy adapts Satoru Noda’s historical adventure manga, which serialized in Young Jump magazine from August 2014 to April 2022. Shueisha shipped the 31st and final volume in July 2022. The manga has a cumulative 30 million copies in circulation.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and released the 29th volume on December 21. The 31st and final volume went on sale in January 2024.
The first three seasons produced by Geno Studio aired in Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Fall 2020, each running for 12 episodes. The fourth season, produced by Brain’s Base, began airing on October 3 but had a 6-month delay after episode six due to the death of an important staff member. The fifth season aired in Winter 2026. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed all five seasons with subtitles and an English dub, respectively.
Golden Kamuy ranked first in the 9th Manga Taisho rankings, received the Grand Prize in the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and placed seventh in the male readers’ division in the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.
