The official website for the television anime adaptation of Nyannyan Factory’s Yani Neko (Chainsmoker Cat) manga revealed additional cast and a key visual (pictured) on Friday. The anime is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 at 12:30 a.m. every Thursday, starting on July 3.

Taku Kimura (Studio Lemon) (Star Wars: Visions – Tatooine Rhapsody, Kairyuu to Yuubinyasan) is directing the anime at Bibury Animation Studios. Takashi Aoshima (Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo, Kakushigoto) is writing the script. Riki Matsuura (Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze-hen creature design, Enen no Shouboutai main animator) is designing the characters, while Keiichi Suzuki (No.6, Tokyo Godfathers) is composing the music.
Nyannyan Factory originally posted the comedy manga on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2022. Weekly Young Magazine began serializing the manga in February 2023. Kodansha published the 11th volume on February 6.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in February 2025 and released the second volume on March 17. The third volume is set to be released on June 16.
Yani Neko ranked 12th in the print category at the 2023 Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards and ranked 18th in the Male Readers category in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Rankings.
