Turn any image into a Palette House-ready creation with this free website
If you need some help drawing your own items in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the game’s community is here to help. A new fan-made tool by Reddit user ClementGzl called Living the Grid converts any image into pixel art, showing you exactly how to draw it within Tomodachi Life‘s creation suite.
In Nintendo’s new life sim, players have the power to make their own items, food, decorative objects, house exteriors, and more. That’s accomplished through the Palette House, a grid-based creation tool that allows players to draw items pixel by pixel. Fans have already taken advantage of that to make some impressive creations, from Super Mario Bros.‘ World 1-1 to a box of cigarettes. It can be a little daunting to see if you’re not the creative type, but Living the Grid now gives any player the power to make their own Marlboros.
To use the free website, you start by uploading any image you want. The tool then converts that picture into pixel art, fitting it into a Palette House-friendly grid. You can customize how detailed you want the final result to be by choosing the size of your brush. The tool even translates the colors in the image to ones that are available in Tomodachi Life. The idea is that you can then use that image as a handy guide to recreate that image in the game.
Considering the fact that Tomodachi Life doesn’t have online play, Living the Grid doubles as a sharing feature too. You can download your creation as an image that includes the grid and the colors used. You can use that to send your creations to other players outside the game and allow them to manually recreate them on their own island.
It’s just one of many ways that the Tomodachi Life community has banded together to fill in some of Living the Dream‘s gaps. Fans have already created websites that let players show off their Miis and visually map out their islanders’ relationships. If you’re feeling bummed out by Living the Dream‘s lack of online sharing, keep an eye on the game’s Reddit. There’s a good chance someone is going to develop a feature you wish the game had.
