All The Big Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars News at CinemaCon 2026

by Awais

Walt Disney Studios returned to CinemaCon in 2026 with a presentation filled with some pretty huge reveals, including the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. We were also treated to new looks at The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5, the Moana live-action remake, Hexed, and much more.

While the presentation wasn’t streamed, IGN was in the room and we’ve broken down all the biggest moments below to ensure you don’t miss a thing.

Avengers: Doomsday’s First Trailer Is Revealed at CinemaCon 2026.

Avengers: Doomsday was the big finale of Disney’s CinemaCon panel, and it began with Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers talking about how Victor Von Doom is one of the greatest comic book villains of all time. They say he is a scientist and magician, and he is always three steps ahead.

It was at that moment that they brought Robert Downey Jr. out, who was wearing a Doctor Doom shirt and helped introduce the long-awaited first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

The trailer begins with Xavier at the ruins of the Xavier Institute, saying something is coming after seeing a bright light in the sky. We then see Doom in a shrouded profile.

The footage then cuts to the Avengers Tower (which looks different), and we see the Fantastic Four meeting with the Avengers / Thunderbolts and Shuri meeting with Namor. This is also when Cyclops walks into the room. Thor says that he’s fought many threats in his life, but this one scares him more than the others.

We then see Shang-Chi vs. Gambit, the Wakandans and Fantastic Four meeting, Mystique changing into Yelena, Johnny Holding Sue, Namor flying around, and then Thor jumping at Doctor Doom with Stormbreaker, who blocks the weapon with one hand.

Thor notes that they’ll need a miracle to win this battle, and he then hears, “Hey, pal.” Thor responds with, “It’s not possible,” as Mjolnir is pulled from his hand and into another – Steve Rogers is back with long hair and a disheveled look, that’s even more distinct than he looked in Infinity War.

The footage ended there, and Chris Evans joined the team on stage. Evans says he was only going to come back for a really good reason, and “in Doomsday, there is a very good reason.” Evans then jokes, “this Doom guy… I don’t like him.” Downey responds by saying, ‘them’s fighting words,” and they mock face off.

Disney Reveals ‘Infinity Vision’ to Help Audiences Find the Biggest and Best Screens

Disney revealed Infinity Vision, a new certification for premium large format theaters designed to help audiences find the “biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences. These will be theaters with the largest screens for maximum scale, laser projection for superior brightness and clarity, and premium audio formats for fully immersive sound.

This will all debut with the September 25 re-release of Avengers: Endgame and followed by Avengers: Doomsday.

The Mandalorian and Grogu

The Mandalorian and Grogu director Jon Favreau appeared onstage next, talking about how exciting it is to see the franchise back on the big screen. He reflected on seeing the original with his father, saying, “That first shot with the ship flying overhead, it changed my life.”

Favreau also noted that working on the film was a very different experience from the series (of which he only directed one episode). They had years rather than months to perfect the final product. He and Dave Filoni (who shot second unit) filmed 49 minutes’ worth of alternate aspect ratio sequences for IMAX and other formats. Favreau praised both ILM’s special effects and Ludwig Göransson’s score.

They then debuted the newest trailer for the film, which will go live online later today. It focuses on the same characters seen in the previous trailers but strikes a decidedly more serious tone.

Then we were allowed to see the entire opening sequence of the film. The Mandalorian and Grogu opens with text explaining that the Empire has fallen and various warlords are scattered and hunted by Mando and his child. It then cuts to a meeting of the Imperial Remnant. The leader says, “You are the lucky few. That which I provide is expensive.” He says the galaxy will demand the Empire’s return – “Long live the Empire!” The troopers repeat the cry, but unenthusiastically.

The leader asks for more protection money and is told they’re already operating at a loss. He stands and shoots the man who said that. An alarm blares and another trooper is shot. More rush to investigate. A mouse droid is released. More troopers are dragged into the dark and shot. We see a POV shot from the mouse droid as the troopers fall. The leader orders his minions to lay down cover fire.

Mando then walks out of the shadows and shoots more troopers with his flamethrower. The rest put their guns down. The mouse droid tries to escape and Grogu hops up and uses the Force to blow it up.

An At-RT Walker marches up and the rider gets down while Grogu hides. From behind the trooper, Mando hops on the walker and blows him up. Mando tells Grogu, “What are you waiting for? Hop on!” They hop off a steep snowy cliff and start dodging larger AT-AT Walkers. The AT-RT is hit and Mando blasts off in his jetpack. He plants an explosive on teh foot of an AT-At and sends it toppling.

On another AT-AT, more Snowtroopers prepare for battle. Mando has an epic fight scene and takes them down, even using his suit to purposely ricochet a shot. He forces his way into the cockpit and blows up the walker. One left to go.

Mando flies to the last AT-At and uses his flamethrower on a trooper. Inside, he realizes the walker is on autopilot and stuffed with explosives. Grogu taps his helmet in alarm. Mando says, “I know” and uses the guns to shoot down the escaping leader’s ship. They fly up to a ship and board. The ship is piloted by none other than Zeb. Zeb tells him, “It’s better if you bring them in alive.”

Then we get an actual opening credits sequence complete with actor names, a first for Star Wars. After that, the film cuts to a New Republic base, where we see X-Wings, Artoo units, and the droids developed for Galaxy’s Edge. Zeb tells Mando, “Good luck, you’re gonna need it” as he and Grogu approach Sigourney Weaver’s Col. Ward.

Check out The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer from February below.

Ward calls the operation “very messy” and complains that they killed their target. They needed information from him. We see that shot of Grogu pulling Ward’s food toward him. Ward brings them to a new Razor Crest, which she says was confiscated from an Imperial. Mando says this is worth more than his bounty and she tells him it’s an advance towards next target – Commander Coin. No one knows what he looks like.

Mando is being sent to Nal Hutta. The Hutts’ nephew is being held somewhere but they’ll only tell Mando in person. His name is Rotta the Hutt, the only surviving heir to Jabba. Mando says he doesn’t work for gangsters anymore, especially the Hutts. Ward says this is what they need him to do and if not, she has nothing for him.

Zeb walks up and tells Mando to come onboard the Razor Crest. Zeb says they’ll go to Nal Hutta and hear what the Hutts have to say. Mando says, “I didn’t say yes.” Zeb responds, “You didn’t say no, either.” Mando walks into cockpit. He’s clearly happy to be back on a Razor Crest. We see another bit from the trailer of Grogu messing with buttons and Mando chastizing him – “Never touch the buttons.”

They take off and fly up through clouds into space and into hyperspace.

The Mando portion of the panel ended with a montage from the film, including some new shots of X-Wings in battle.

Sadly, Star Wars: Starfighter only got a brief mention, with the same pic we’ve seen before of Gosling’s character and his son.

Toy Story 5

We were treated to a new clip from Toy Story 5, which is set to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026, and it’s all about Bonnie getting her Lilypad device for the first time and kicking off the battle of toys vs. tech.

Bonnie is so excited to get Lilypad, and our favorite toys are watching on. The music changes to a spooky tone and it’s kind of played like a horror parody. We then see her just staring at the screen and we move through day and night very quickly with her ignoring her old toys. Her dad eventually tries to tell her that screen time is over, but shes tries to play as long as she can.

When Bonnie leaves home, all the toys freak out and Jessie says she’ll speak to Lilypad to see what’s going on. We then cut to footage we’ve already seen of Jessie talking to Lilypad and Jesse feeling ignored. The toys then question if Lilypad is even listening to them, and she notes she is always listening, and can even repeat it back in Spanish.

Check out the official Toy Story 5 trailer from February below.

Jessie tells Lilypad that Bonnie needs to make friends and can’t be locked behind a screen, and Lilypad notes that she can talk to her friends online. The other toys are kind of impressed with this new tech, but Jessie says, “That ain’t a real friend. A real friend will be there.” Lilypad then calls Jessie Jessica and she is not happy.

Lilypad then looks through the history of the Jessie toy after she mentions she’s been with three kids now – Emily, Andy, and now Bonnie – and Lilypad notes that, ‘Yikes, you are really old.” Bonnie then looks at Lilypad and is super excited to be invited to play with a friend and the toys lament that their time is up as Rex screams, ‘Extinction?! Not again!”

That was where the first clip ended, but we actually were able to see another one as well, and this time it was focused on Woody.

Woody and Bo Peep return to our toys and they are looking very heroic being backlit in Bonnie’s window. Woody jumps down with his poncho and we hear the same line from the Trailer from Forky, “Why are you wearing a dress?!” Woody also has his bald spot and a bigger belly and then Buzz comes out and says, “Who goes there?!” However, they quickly embrace before arguing who is Jessie’s deputy since she called Woody for help.

Bo then says, “Call me when you’re done helping,” and she leaves. Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves) is waiting for her on his bike and then we cut to a montage featuring the army of Buzz Lightyears, Jessie riding Bullseye, and more.

Tom Hanks (Woody) and Tim Allen (Buzz) were also on stage together for the first time ever at CinemaCon to help talk about Toy Story 5.

Hexed

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hexed took center stage and we learned a bit more about the comedy adventure set in the world of magic, including that Hailee Steinfeld will star as the main character Billie and Rashida Jones will play her mother, Alice.

We then got to see a clip that began with Billie being flung down the stairs into a cavern. She finds an ancient looking book that’s closed by straps, and she sneezes from the dust on it. She is startled when someone says, “bless you,” and she discovers is was actually the book talking. There’s also a pen and ink that speak to her in a way that reminded us of The Beauty and the Beast.

Hexed’s main character, Billie, who will be voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

The pen then says, “answer these questions and we’ll see if Hex is for you!” They ask her questions like if she’s ever been burnt at the stake, and they tell her to sign the book.

“Go on, Love… DIP ME!” the pen says, encouraging her to dip her in the ink and write. Billie is then told that she is officially welcomed into Hex, a world of magic and wonder that is revealed by a wall opening and a whole other world waiting for them on the other side.

Hexed will be released in theaters on November 25, 2026.

Moana Live-Action

The CinemaCon clip of the live-action remake of Moana began with a glimpse at the song ‘Where You Are’ and the spirit of Gramma Tala, and it then cuts into the trailer/sizzle reel.

Maui says, “Don’t worry! Maui always has time for his fans!” Maui swings his hook at Te Kā during a big action moment, and we get to see a bit more of ‘You’re Welcome’ and other footage.

Dwayne Johnson was also on stage and talked about how much this film, both the animated and live-action, mean to him and how he was partially inspired by his grandfather. He showed a picture of his grandfather (they decided to show this like 10 minutes before the show), and he talks about how he was a bbig man and had this incredible hair and was so charismatic and was all the good parts of Maui.

Check out the official trailer for Moana from March below.

He also spoke on the impact of Moana across the world and how it’s important to bring this story to live-action so they can spotlight the pacific island and real people. He then talked about Moana and new actress Catherine Laga’aia.

Moana, to Johnson, is not a princess, but a warrior, and men of all ages should empower and support all women. That’s what real masculinity looks like.” He also noted that Laga’aia is fantastic despite this being her first film ever and only being 17 when filming it.

The Moana live-action film will be released in theaters on July 10, 2026.

Ice Age: Boiling Point

Ice Age: Boiling Point will be the first time the franchise has been on the big screen in ten years, and Ray Romano (Manny), Denis Leary (Diego), and Queen Latifah (Ellie) were all present on stage, saying we’re picking up at a point when our characters are at a bit of a fork in their life. Oh, and that Baby Scrat will be introduced!

The footage shows Scrat and Baby Scrat, and they fight over the acorn before Scrat gives the baby a tiny acorn and he puts it in his mouth like a pacifier. Scrat does not like that, however, and wants him to put it in the ground like he does with his acorns. Unfortunately, the acord gets all hot and sinks into the ground and the ice begins to split and it reveals a lot of lava below.

They have to jump across ice and ride the big acorn and they fall into a cavern below, where a dinosaur skeleton was jammed into the cave. They land on the ground and Scrat picks up his acorn, but it sadly falls apart as it’s been burnt to a crisp.

Ice Age: Boiling Point will be released on February 5, 2027.

The Devil Wears Prada 2

After kicking off the presentation by taking a victory lap over recent box office successes like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2, Disney moved to The Devil Wears Prada 2 and a video message from star Anne Hathaway. We saw a clip of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly in a meeting and insulting someone she feels did a poor job. After being informed of recent trends, she says, “A bum bag. May my suicide be quick and painless.” The clip was followed by a quick montage from the film, which opens this Friday.

Check out the trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 from early April below.

The Dog Stars

We got some footage Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, and it began with Jacob Elordi’s Hig reminiscing about better times with his wife and dog, and then they vanish. It’s revealed this is a post-apocalyptic world and he’s then with Margaret Qualley’s Cima, who asks him, “What did you do before the world ended?”

Josh Brolin’s Bangley then notes that the world that was does not exist anymore as we cut to some very intense footage with big fights with guns and rocket launchers. Hig longs for something better than this life they live, and then he and Cima are in a plane trying to get off the ground as guys chase them on horseback and jump onto the plane.

The Dog Star will be released on August 28, 2026.

Whalefall

Next up was Whalefall, and the footage begins with a guy scuba diving. He hears a loud noise in the darkness and a large octoput floats up and away. Right after, a massive whale appears and the scuba guy is freaking out before he gets attacked over and over again by the whale while trying to get to the surface.

He is then grabbed by the tentacles of the octopus and finds himself inside the whale’s mouth and he’s being pulled further and further down, despite trying to grab teeeth to climb out. It keeps getting more intense and more claustrophobic and he is sucked down into the whale.

Whalefall will be released on October 16, 2026.

Wild Horse Nine

The footage of Wild Horse Nine begins with John Malkovich’s Chris and Sam Rockwell’s Lee sitting in an airport and heade to Easter Island. There are young girls and they try to tell them the indigenous name of Easter Island, to which Chris says, “you shouldn’t even know the word indigenous at your age.”

We then cut to someone asking the pair what they think of our new president, to which they respond, “Enjoy him while you can,” insinuating something is going to happen to him. Chris then says, “we came down here to destabilize your democracy and it’s going great!” Lee tries to stop him, and Chris doubles down and says, “Your country is going to get f*****!”

Before the footage ends, Chris jokes that Lee has gained wait and also reminding him that they kill people, to which Lee says, “Shut the F*** up!”

Check out the Wild Horse Nine trailer from March below.

Wild Horse Nine will be released in theaters on November 6, 2026.
